Small farm. Big flock. Grown in Cañon City, Colorado.

Our ranch

Small farm.
Whole system.

What The Flock Ranch is our family-run farmstead in Cañon City, where healthy soil, thoughtfully raised animals, and good food all belong to the same story.

Growing more than food.

“When we become stewards instead of consumers, we build a relationship with the land, the animals, and one another.”

We started What The Flock Ranch because we wanted a closer relationship with what sustains us. That meant learning the soil beneath our feet, caring for animals as living partners in the farm, growing plants with purpose, and sharing the results with our neighbors.

Our Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, chickens, ducks, quail, geese, turkeys, gardens, herbs, compost, baked goods, and farm stand are not separate projects. Each is part of a working cycle. Plants and pasture feed animals. Animals return fertility to the soil. The soil grows food, herbs, and forage. What remains is reused, composted, or returned to the system whenever possible.

We are still learning, experimenting, and improving. That is part of honest farming. We would rather show people the real process—successes, setbacks, muddy boots and all—than pretend food appears without work.

What guides us

Start with the soil. Care for the whole.

01

Stewardship

We work with the land and its biology, building fertility and resilience instead of treating soil as an inert growing medium.

02

Connection

Knowing the people who grow your food—and letting them know you—creates accountability, trust, and community.

03

Use what we have

We aim to reduce outside inputs, find value in overlooked materials, and keep nutrients cycling through the ranch.
