Nigerian Dwarf dairy goat at What The Flock Ranch

What is a herd share?

Ownership, not a milk purchase.

A herd share is a small ownership interest in our dairy-goat herd. The annual share purchase establishes that ownership. The monthly fee supports the ongoing boarding, feeding, milking, and care of the herd.

As a herd owner, you receive an agreed portion of the milk produced by the herd. Milk is picked up here at the ranch on the schedule established in your herd-share agreement.

We keep this program intentionally small. It allows us to know our herd owners, communicate honestly about seasonal production, and maintain the level of animal care that matters to us.

How it works

From introduction to first pickup.

01

Ask about an opening

Send us a message. We’ll discuss availability, your milk needs, and whether the program is a good fit.

02

Review the agreement

You’ll review and sign the herd-share agreement, make the annual share purchase, and establish pickup details.

03

Join the flock

Your monthly care fee begins, and you collect your allocated milk at the ranch according to the agreed schedule.

A note about raw milk

Raw milk is not pasteurized. Herd owners should make an informed decision based on their household’s circumstances and should understand the benefits and potential risks before joining. We are happy to explain our animal-care, milking, handling, and cleaning practices.
